VITAS Innovative Hospice Care Selects AirWatch to Provide Seamless Patient Care

VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, a leading provider of end-of-life care in the United States, wanted to “go mobile” to better support caregivers working in patients’ homes and across care settings. To make sure nurses and other staff could access up-to-date medical and referral information quickly, the company needed a streamlined way to manage mobile devices and deliver data at the bedside. VITAS selected VMware AirWatch, including AirWatch Secure Content Locker, to help enable its mobile care strategy.

With VMware AirWatch, VITAS deployed more than 100 corporate-owned iPhones and iPads for admissions, sales, e-prescribing, and care teams. The company digitized its critical admissions “book” in Secure Content Locker, allowing updates to referral procedures, addresses, and contact details to be pushed automatically to devices, reducing what nurses had to carry and saving time in the field. VITAS also expanded use of the platform for marketing and patient education content, including a video that helps calm families when patients need transfer to inpatient care, improving communication and the overall care experience.
