Universitätsspital Basel Keeps Patient Health Records Safe with AirWatch

Universitätsspital Basel, one of Switzerland’s leading hospitals, needed a way to secure a mixed fleet of corporate and employee-owned mobile devices while still giving doctors and staff fast access to patient data. The hospital’s mobility goals were to improve doctor-patient communication, strengthen collaboration with specialists and family physicians, and deliver better patient services. It turned to VMware AirWatch, including AirWatch Enterprise Mobility Management, to support secure mobile access.

With VMware AirWatch, Universitätsspital Basel was able to protect sensitive patient documents, keep data within Switzerland, and distribute role-based apps through the AirWatch Catalog, including an electronic patient records app. The solution also enabled BYOD for all employees and improved access to files and resources through VMware Horizon. As a result, doctors gained instant access to records instead of waiting for archive files, collaboration improved with external physicians, and patient experience and trust increased through better multimedia support and faster care.
