Trillium Lakelands Empowers Faculty and Students with AirWatch-managed Devices

Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB), a Canadian K-12 education organization serving 17,000 students across multiple schools and learning centers, needed a better way to provision and manage its growing fleet of Apple devices. In 2011, the board was manually configuring iPads, iPods, and iPhones for wireless authentication and access to school resources, creating a slow, labor-intensive process for IT staff. VMware AirWatch was selected as the enterprise mobility management solution.

With VMware AirWatch, TLDSB could push configuration profiles and digital certificates over the air, remotely provision multiple devices at once, and integrate with Active Directory for user-specific permissions. The board also used AirWatch to manage Mac computers and Apple TVs. The result was a much more efficient deployment process, with TLDSB reporting a fivefold increase in deployment efficiency, freeing IT staff to focus on other priorities while giving faculty and students secure access to school devices and resources.
