TAG Aviation Selects AirWatch to Enable Paperless Cockpits

TAG Aviation, a European aviation services company, needed a way to reduce pilot workload, improve operational efficiency, and keep flight and passenger data secure while meeting strict Swiss aviation regulations for electronic flight bags. The company tested iPads for use as EFBs and then expanded to a BYOD model, but required an enterprise mobility management solution to control device settings, enforce compliance, and protect sensitive information.

Using VMware AirWatch, TAG Aviation enrolled tablets in just two weeks and configured them with required apps, Wi‑Fi settings, passcodes, and remote security controls. VMware AirWatch helped the company stay compliant through automated reports and notifications, while also enabling paperless cockpits, reducing printing and ink use, lowering flight bag weight from up to 20 kg to a half-kilo iPad, and giving pilots instant access to updated charts and flight information.
