Sprint Embraces Mobile Innovation With Vmware Airwatch And Horizon Air

Sprint, one of the largest telecommunications companies in the U.S., wanted to modernize everyday work across retail stores, field sales, and corporate offices. The company needed to free store employees from counter-based POS systems, give sales teams secure remote access to internal information, and reduce the cost and effort of deploying traditional PCs. VMware AirWatch, along with VMware Horizon Air, helped Sprint support these mobile and desktop use cases.

VMware AirWatch enabled Sprint retail associates to use managed tablets on the sales floor, business sales teams to securely access company resources on mobile devices, and corporate employees to work through virtual desktops on Horizon Air. The results were significant: Sprint managed about 28,000 devices and 50+ apps with just four administrators, deployed AirWatch to more than 1,100 stores and 3,000 devices in two weeks, and reduced retail transaction times by 30%. VMware AirWatch also helped Sprint improve security, support BYOD, and cut the time and cost of desktop management.
