Örebro Kommun Secures Decision-making Information for Politicians with AirWatch

Örebro Kommun, the local government organization for the city of Örebro in Sweden, needed a way to securely deliver decision-making information to politicians using tablets and other mobile devices. As the municipality expanded mobile use, it faced the challenge of protecting highly sensitive public-sector data while supporting flexible access for council members and staff. VMware AirWatch was selected to simplify and strengthen mobile device management and security.

With VMware AirWatch, Örebro Kommun manages around 700 corporate-owned iPads and the apps on them, while controlling access to sensitive documents, tracking and wiping devices, and enforcing location-based policies. The solution integrates with Active Directory, PKI, and internal systems through AirWatch Cloud Connector, making administration much easier than the previous manual process. The municipality reported simpler implementation, stronger security controls, and plans to expand the deployment to about 1,500 Samsung KNOX and SAFE devices, including a BYOD initiative.
