Mobile Apps Secured by AirWatch Help Pierce County Deliver Essential Public Services

Pierce County, a large Washington State government serving more than 800,000 residents, needed a secure way to manage 200 new tablets across 24 departments. The county wanted to protect sensitive information, control which apps could be installed, and improve mobile productivity for elected officials and staff, so it turned to VMware AirWatch for mobile device management.

VMware AirWatch provided a centralized, over-the-air management solution with MDM, MAM, VPN, password controls, remote lock/wipe, and an Internal Application Catalog for approved and in-house apps. The county was able to deploy the tablets within 60 days, let users access files through an automatically connecting VPN, and securely support critical public safety and emergency management apps while preventing unauthorized downloads.
