Merck KGaA Embraces BYOD and Mobile Innovation with AirWatch

Merck KGaA, a global pharmaceutical, chemical, and life science company, needed a secure way to expand mobile access beyond corporate-owned devices without risking sensitive data or violating strict privacy laws. Already using VMware AirWatch Enterprise Mobility Management, the company wanted to introduce BYOD while preserving security, employee privacy, and access to enterprise email, apps, and content.

VMware AirWatch provided the solution by managing both company-owned and employee-owned devices, integrating with Microsoft Exchange, and using tools like the AirWatch Catalog and Mobile Access Gateway to securely deliver more than 150 approved applications and enterprise resources. Merck also began rolling out AirWatch Content Locker for collaboration and planned to extend deployment with app wrapping, VPN integration, Container, and the Software Development Kit. The result was a more flexible mobile program that helped employees work faster and more effectively, with Merck supporting 19,000+ devices globally.
