Medical College of Wisconsin Uses Mobile Devices to Advance Education and Research

Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), a major academic medical center and research institution, needed an enterprise mobility management strategy to securely support thousands of students, faculty, and staff using both institution-issued and personally owned tablets and smartphones. The college wanted to enable access to resources on mobile devices while protecting privacy and maintaining strong security, making VMware AirWatch the chosen vendor for its flexibility and support.

VMware AirWatch helped MCW implement an EMM program to secure more than 4,300 mobile devices, about 80% of which were personally owned, using capabilities such as MDM, MAM, MCM, MEM, AirWatch App Catalog, and AirWatch Browser. The solution enabled secure access to email, apps, textbooks, collaboration tools, and clinical resources, while simplifying app deployment and device management for IT. As a result, MCW achieved a balance of security and user empowerment without compromising privacy or operational efficiency.
