McAllen ISD – Sets the Bar for Today’s Modern Classroom with AirWatch and F5

McAllen ISD, a Texas school district with 34 campuses and more than 25,000 students, launched its TLC3 initiative to put a mobile device in the hands of every student. To manage and secure 25,000+ school-owned iPads while enforcing consistent web filtering across campus, home, and public networks, the district needed an enterprise mobility management solution. It selected VMware AirWatch, along with F5 for network security and filtering.

VMware AirWatch helped McAllen ISD deploy and manage the iPads over a 12-month rollout, delivering centralized control for apps, web clips, and device monitoring across grade levels. The district said AirWatch eliminated countless hours of manual work and third-party imaging costs, saving an estimated $250,000 to $400,000, while F5 provided VPN enforcement, granular security, reporting, and resilience. Together, VMware AirWatch and F5 enabled McAllen ISD to scale its 1:1 program and better support student learning.
