A VMware AirWatch Case Study
Manitou Springs School District 14, a K-12 district serving about 1,500 students in Colorado, wanted to make learning more mobile while maintaining strong control and compliance. As one of the early districts to adopt tablets in the classroom, it needed a way to securely manage student devices, restrict web access by age group, and meet COPPA requirements. The district turned to VMware AirWatch for enterprise mobility management, including MDM, mobile security, and MAM capabilities.
With VMware AirWatch, Manitou Springs School District 14 rolled out 1,100 iPads to create a 1:1 program for grades 5-12 and gained centralized control over devices, apps, content, and user-specific settings. The district used AirWatch to manage Safari access, deploy secure browsing options, disable GPS tracking when needed, push free apps, and send messages to student devices. As a result, teachers were able to extend learning beyond the classroom, while the district improved security, device visibility, and student engagement.
