Case Study: Informatics Merseyside achieves secure mobile healthcare access with VMware AirWatch

A VMware AirWatch Case Study

Preview of the Informatics Merseyside Case Study

Informatics Merseyside Offers Healthcare Staff Flexible and Efcient Work Practices

Informatics Merseyside, an IM&T NHS shared service supporting 11 trusts across the Merseyside Health Economy, needed a secure way to manage the growing number of mobile devices used for its paperless board and clinical mobility initiatives. As more devices were deployed, the organization lacked the security control needed to manage wireless changes and protect sensitive patient data, while also meeting NHS requirements around data storage and sharing. VMware AirWatch was chosen for its cloud-based speed of deployment and enterprise mobility management capabilities.

VMware AirWatch was implemented to secure paperless board devices, deliver over-the-air updates, and support multi-tenant management across partner trusts. The solution also enabled mobile application management for custom clinical apps, remote wipe for lost or stolen devices, and encrypted offline access to patient lists and details, all while helping ensure data stayed within the UK. Informatics Merseyside was able to manage devices in just 40 minutes, reduce printing costs and time, and enable clinicians to access patient information more flexibly and efficiently.
