A VMware AirWatch Case Study
Harrogate Grammar School, an independent co-educational specialist language and technology school in North Yorkshire, England, wanted to introduce iPads to support mobile learning, digital literacy, and safer online access for students. After a free MDM tool failed as device use grew to around 200 iPads, the school needed a more robust enterprise mobility management solution. VMware AirWatch was chosen to provide the management and security capabilities required.
VMware AirWatch was deployed on-premise to manage, secure, and push apps to 1,850 iPads, with plans to scale to 2,000 devices. The AirWatch App Catalog let students and staff download approved apps on demand, reducing IT workload, bandwidth strain, and licensing costs, while planned AirWatch Browser and Secure Content Locker use would extend safe access to school resources beyond campus. The solution was reportedly installed and ready in about four hours, giving Harrogate Grammar School confidence that its devices were safe for educational use.
