Fort Bend ISD Takes Student Health Records Digital with AirWatch

Fort Bend ISD, a Texas school district with 74 campuses, needed a secure, portable way to give nurses access to student health records during emergencies, even when cell service or the Internet was unavailable. The district partnered with VMware AirWatch to support its mobile strategy and extend the use of tablets beyond e-learning into student safety and care.

VMware AirWatch helped Fort Bend ISD deploy its internally developed ICE (In Case of Emergency) tablet app exclusively to nurses and Safe and Secure task force members. The app securely delivers encrypted student health data from the district’s information system to devices, is automatically pushed on enrollment, and is now used by 72 nurses across 74 campuses, with plans to expand to police, administrators, and field-trip use.
