A VMware AirWatch Case Study
Delta Air Lines, a global transportation company serving 333 destinations in 64 countries, faced challenges with its fleet of mobile devices in the field. Many devices lacked Internet connectivity, which delayed credit card processing until flights landed and created risk of invalid swipes and shrinkage. Delta wanted to replace legacy devices, enable real-time payment validation, and build a better foundation for crew communications, so it turned to VMware AirWatch for an enterprise mobility management solution.
VMware AirWatch helped Delta deploy and secure cellular-connected smart devices for flight attendants, enabling real-time credit card processing, sales tracking, and better onboard inventory management. The solution also improved communication with crews, provided access to corporate email, and supported secure updates and content delivery. Delta reported that for the same cost of 4,000 legacy devices, it could now support 20,000 flight attendants with smarter devices and greater capabilities.
