Cal Poly Enhances Campus Life with Mobile Technology and mPOS Secured by AirWatch

Cal Poly Corporation, which supports California Polytechnic State University’s dining, retail, and student payment operations, wanted to bring more mobility into campus life and daily business processes. To support tablets used for email, management productivity, and mobile point of sale (mPOS), the organization needed a mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM) solution that would secure devices, support PCI compliance, and streamline mobile sales and reporting. VMware AirWatch was selected to meet those needs.

With VMware AirWatch, Cal Poly Corporation deployed secure tablet management for mPOS, line-busting, and business apps, while also supporting BYOD for a few managers. AirWatch helped lock devices to mPOS functions, push apps easily, locate lost tablets with GPS, and protect transactions for PCI compliance. The result was faster checkout and shorter lines, improved field sales capability, and the ability to capture additional revenue that would not have been possible without VMware AirWatch.
