AirWatch Secures and Manages 13,000 iPads for Mansfield’s 1:1 Mobile Device Deployment

Mansfield ISD, a school district outside Dallas serving 30,000 students across 42 campuses, needed a secure way to support its 1:1 iPad program as students increasingly used mobile devices for classwork, testing, and everyday learning. The district chose VMware AirWatch, an enterprise mobility management platform, after evaluating several providers for its simplicity, ease of use, and responsive support.

Using VMware AirWatch, Mansfield ISD configured device profiles, global web filtering, app blacklisting, and compliance controls to keep school-owned iPads secure both in and out of the classroom. The district also used the AirWatch App Catalog, Apple Volume Purchase Program, and later began beta testing Apple’s Device Enrollment Program to streamline deployment; this helped manage 13,000 deployed devices and reduce the need to manually touch and configure each iPad.
