A VMware AirWatch Case Study
Adventist Health System, a faith-based healthcare organization with 45 hospital campuses across 10 states, needed a secure way to bring mobility into clinical workflows without compromising PHI or HIPAA compliance. Its legacy systems only supported basic email access, leaving employees without the device management and usability features they needed. The organization turned to VMware AirWatch to manage corporate-owned and personal devices with stronger controls for mobile email and access to hospital resources.
Using VMware AirWatch Secure Content Locker, Secure Email Gateway, compliance policies, and device management for iPads, Adventist Health System enabled encrypted email attachments, PIN enforcement, jailbreak/root detection, and enterprise wipe capabilities. Doctors and nurses now use managed iPads to track bed availability, complete patient surveys, and capture signatures more efficiently, while protected data can be removed from lost, stolen, or departed-user devices without affecting personal content. The case study does not cite numeric performance gains, but it reports improved employee efficiency, easier device use, and stronger security for patient information.
