Der Freitag, the German newspaper founded in 1990 and rebranded in 2008, needed to move from manual editorial processes to a more automated workflow while also handling a later system migration in a single weekend. Vendor vjoon addressed these challenges with vjoon K4, supporting both print and online production in a more integrated way.

vjoon implemented vjoon K4 version 5.9 and later upgraded der Freitag to version 7, alongside vjoon Storage Engine for backup and recovery. The result was higher performance, automated production, better transparency in task assignment and editing, agile data management, and faster data recovery in failure scenarios, helping the newspaper run print and digital channels more flexibly.
