Washington State School District’s Bus Drivers Gain Easy Access

Highline School District in Washington State, which operates a large bus barn for storage and maintenance, faced a daily operational delay: each bus driver had to stop, exit the vehicle, and manually unlock a secure gate to enter the yard. To solve this, the district engaged VIZpin to implement a Bluetooth-based mobile access solution using VIZpin-enabled smartphones.

VIZpin’s system now lets up to 50 drivers approach the main gate and gain entry automatically via a Bluetooth connection, reducing entry to a three-second wait. The district reports improved convenience and measurable time savings while maintaining security, and Highline plans to expand the VIZpin deployment to a back gate for deliveries and evaluate broader use across the district.
