Historic Boat Club Discovers Benefits of Transitioning from Outdated Access System to VIZpin

Vesper Boat Club, a historic rowing club on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, faced an outdated card/fob access system whose manufacturer and installer had gone out of business and which required an old, unsupported Windows laptop to manage. Concerned about security, continuity of control, and ongoing hardware costs, the club sought a modern, easy-to-manage solution and was introduced to VIZpin’s cloud-based smartphone access control service, including the VP1 Bluetooth reader.

VIZpin installed the VP1 reader on Vesper’s main entrance and ran the new cloud-based system in parallel with the old one during transition; today Vesper has 142 users on the VIZpin smartphone app and 140 physical fobs left to convert. VIZpin’s solution delivered measurable benefits—improved security and audit visibility, simplified temporary access for tenants and events, reduced fob inventory and purchase costs, and easier admin and user experience—allowing the club to manage access reliably and transparently going forward.
