A VIVOTEK Case Study
Nikolaev Zoo, one of Ukraine’s oldest zoological parks (110+ years, 18.48 ha, home to 6,029 animals from ~475 species including 253 endangered), needed a high-performance, interoperable surveillance solution that maximized coverage of critical areas while allowing for future expansion and discreet installation. Working with LLC Konus Ukraine, the zoo selected VIVOTEK equipment — including the ND9541 NVR, FD8369A-V and MS8391-EV network cameras, AW-FET/ AW-FED PoE switches, AP-FIC PoE injectors and VIVOTEK VAST software — to meet these requirements.
VIVOTEK implemented a first-phase system of 17 network cameras, one ND9541 NVR (up to 32-CH, H.264/H.265, RAID 0/1/5), two PoE switches and one PoE injector, plus a donated MS8391-EV multisensor panoramic camera (7,552 × 1,416) at the main entrance; vandal-proof FD8369A-V domes and custom mounts were used for robust, unobtrusive coverage. The deployment immediately improved monitoring of the safety of the zoo’s animals, staff and visitors, laid groundwork for expansion and Safe City integration, and enabled plans to stream select areas online — demonstrating VIVOTEK’s measurable impact on security and visitor experience.
