VIVOTEK’s Cameras Provide Security Around Toll Stations in India

International Road Dynamics (IRD), a 30+-year leader in Intelligent Transportation Systems, needed a reliable, high‑quality surveillance solution to secure toll operations in India (late 2012), capture traffic volume and license plates, and provide evidence for incidents while integrating with IRD’s software. VIVOTEK was selected for its IP cameras — notably the IP8332, IP8331 and FD8136 models — for their day/night performance, weather‑proof housings and third‑party compatibility.

VIVOTEK deployed 800 cameras (700 IP8332, 50 IP8331 and 50 FD8136) across approximately 50 toll stations, providing IP66‑rated protection, PoE, tamper detection and IR illumination (IP8331 up to 10 m, IP8332 up to 15 m) and efficient H.264/MPEG‑4/MJPEG codecs. The result was clear 24/7 imaging of license plates and drivers, reliable booth and lane monitoring, and strong field performance and support — outcomes IRD called technically and commercially effective, prompting VIVOTEK to become their default surveillance choice for future projects.
