VIVOTEK Network Cameras Provide Advanced People-Counting Technology for the National Library of Latvia

The National Library of Latvia, a major cultural institution in Riga that hosts millions of titles and around 20 rotating exhibitions, faced growing and unpredictable visitor flows that strained its surveillance and facility management. To better monitor crowds and protect visitors, staff and archives, the library turned to VIVOTEK for advanced people-counting and video surveillance (FD8166A-S and SC8131 cameras managed by VAST).

VIVOTEK, working with partner NVision, installed five cameras (three FD8166A-S and two SC8131) in December 2016, centrally managed via VAST to deliver real‑time visitor counts and flow tracking; the SC8131 delivers up to 98% people‑counting accuracy and the FD8166A-S provides high‑definition streams with bandwidth‑saving Smart Stream II. The deployment enabled precise, real-time crowd monitoring and quicker staff responses, improved exhibition and space planning, and effective oversight of the entire library with just five VIVOTEK cameras.
