VIVOTEK Keeps India’s Oldest Library Collection Safe and Sound

Goa Central Library, India’s oldest library with nearly 200,000 books and rare historical collections, faced recurring security problems—visitors tearing pages from books, lost and stolen volumes, noisy disturbances and theft of stationery. VIVOTEK, working with integrators Reconnoitre Systems and AUTOCOP, was selected to provide a comprehensive surveillance solution using VIVOTEK cameras (FD7131, SD8121, SD7323E) and VIVOTEK VAST software to protect the collection and improve monitoring.

The implemented solution deployed 116 VIVOTEK cameras (78 FD7131 fixed domes, 30 SD8121 speed domes, and eight SD7323E units) managed by VIVOTEK VAST, leveraging wide-angle coverage, IR/WDR, remote PTZ and high-magnification zoom for detailed monitoring. Since the June 2011 installation the system has surpassed expectations—resolving security issues, increasing staff convenience, enabling monitoring of more of the library’s indoor environment than ever before, delivering superior image quality, and being judged by partners as “a great investment” for the Goa Central Library.
