VIVOTEK Delivers Optimal Security Coverage at USS Midway Museum in San Diego, California

The USS Midway Museum, a 1,001‑ft. historic aircraft carrier that welcomes about 1,000,000 visitors annually, needed an upgraded surveillance system to protect visitors, volunteers, staff and exhibits across 18 decks and extensive outdoor areas. Working with systems integrator Layer3 Security Services, the museum selected VIVOTEK to provide an updated video solution featuring VIVOTEK network cameras and integration with the ExacqVision VMS.

VIVOTEK deployed dozens of cameras (FD8373‑EHV, FD8365HV, FD8338‑HV, SD8364E, IP8155HP) tailored to challenging lighting, weather and vandalism conditions—WDR/WDR Pro sensors for high‑contrast scenes, IP66/IP67/NEMA 4X and IK10 housings for outdoor durability, and 30x optical zoom speed domes for wide‑area monitoring. The VIVOTEK system, implemented via Layer3, expanded reliable coverage across the ship, parking lots and public spaces, met the museum’s security objectives, and—according to Safety Director Bill McClurg—“far exceeded our expectations.”
