A VIVOTEK Case Study
PDX Wildlife, a U.S. non-profit focused on conserving species and habitats, needed reliable, around-the-clock monitoring to study giant panda breeding—an event that occurs only once a year and can be missed without continuous observation. VIVOTEK, with partner VideoSurveillance.com, supplied a customized surveillance solution built around the VIVOTEK IP8332 to meet the challenges of outdoor pens, low-light conditions, and limited bandwidth.
VIVOTEK’s IP8332 cameras delivered Day & Night imaging, IR illumination (up to 15 m), IP66 weatherproofing, H.264 multi-streaming for bandwidth efficiency, PoE and on-board recording, enabling continuous, high-quality video capture. The system gave researchers the flexibility to review after-hours behavior, capture sudden estrous events that human observers might miss, and gather actionable data for breeding and conservation; staff reported the cameras worked “exactly how we imagined,” improving documentation and analysis of panda reproductive behavior.
