National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan faced an aging analog CCTV network that could no longer secure its 240-acre campus or handle increasing vehicular traffic and license-plate recognition needs. The university engaged Goodwill Instrument Co. Ltd. and turned to VIVOTEK for a modern IP surveillance solution to provide high-quality, all-weather day/night coverage and improved traffic monitoring.

VIVOTEK deployed a 420-camera IP system using IB8369/IB8369A bullets and IP816A-HP box cameras, supported by 20 unmanaged PoE switches and an AW-GEV-264A-370 VivoCam managed PoE switch. The solution delivered full 2‑MP imaging and up to 60 fps for traffic capture, IR coverage to 30 m, and VIVOTEK Smart Stream II—reducing storage needs by up to 50%—while the VivoCam switch automated device discovery and configuration, cutting security labor and minimizing human error.
