Colombia San Nicolás Shopping Mall Frees up Security Staff with VIVOTEK’s People-Counting Solution

San Nicolás Shopping Mall in Antioquia, Colombia was relying on manual people-counting by security staff using pushbuttons, a process that was time-consuming and unreliable for traffic analysis and tenant decisions. The mall engaged system integrator ICONTRONIX and selected VIVOTEK’s IP-based people-counting solution—deploying SC8131 3D stereo network cameras with VAST software—to replace the manual method.

VIVOTEK installed six SC8131 cameras at the mall’s entrances, linked via VAST, providing onboard edge analytics that deliver about 98% accuracy, distinguish shadows and carts, and export flexible reports while reducing server load and bandwidth needs. The VIVOTEK solution automated counting across all entrances, freed up security staff from manual counting duties, and supplied reliable, measurable visitor metrics for operations, marketing, and leasing.
