University of Surrey streams dissection lectures to 250 students with VITEC

The University of Surrey's School of Veterinary Medicine needed to provide its students with high-quality, specialized course material and live dissections, which was challenging due to access restrictions and safety concerns in a pathology environment. To enhance its educational offerings and remain competitive, the university partnered with VITEC to deploy a large-scale IP video system.

VITEC implemented a solution using its AvediaServer, AvediaStream encoders, and media players to stream and record live dissection lectures. This allowed up to 250 students to observe procedures simultaneously in lecture theaters and access recordings on-demand. The deployment was a major success, safely providing students with unprecedented access to essential learning materials and supporting the university's plans for future growth and expanded enrollment.
