A VITEC Case Study
Thomson Reuters, the global news and information company, needed a better way to deliver live TV and video to more than 2,500 employees at its Canary Wharf headquarters. Its aging coaxial TV distribution system was difficult to scale, hard to integrate with desktop PCs, and costly to expand, move, or maintain. VITEC’s Exterity IPTV solution was selected to replace the legacy setup and leverage the company’s existing IP network.
VITEC implemented an end-to-end IPTV system using AvediaStream TV gateways and encoders, AvediaPlayer receivers, and PC clients to stream broadcast-quality TV and internal video to over 300 displays and 2,500 desktops without extra cabling. The result was lower operational costs, easier management, and a future-proof platform that can add users, channels, and new endpoints without service disruption, while making better use of existing network investments.
