Case Study: RealTV Group delivers live sailing event streaming in Full HD with VITEC

RealTV Group, the production team behind Kieler Woche TV, needed a way to capture and explain the complexity of the world’s largest sailing event in real time. With multiple live inputs from cameras on boats, drones, and a helicopter, they also had to deliver content simultaneously to big screens, a live web TV platform, and mobile devices. VITEC’s Proxsys Media Asset Management system was part of the workflow challenge, alongside NewTek live production tools.

VITEC helped RealTV Group by integrating Proxsys PX-Series Media Asset Management with the NewTek TriCaster 8000 workflow to ingest, manage, archive, and repurpose video assets in high and low resolution, plus metadata and audio. The setup enabled live streaming, VOD distribution, and multi-platform playout for web, social, and mobile viewing, while Eutelsat Kasat provided a secure dedicated satellite uplink of up to 10 Mbps. The result was a flexible, efficient production environment that delivered nine days of FULL HD sailing coverage to more than three million visitors and audiences across iPhone, iPad, Android, and web platforms.
