Case Study: University of Limerick achieves streamlined medical training recording with VITEC Proxsys and Monisys

Multi Source Recording and Centralized Management Platform for University

University of Limerick needed a new medical training facility equipped with video and audio recording for 20 operating room beds. The university required secure user authentication via Active Directory, simple recording control, easy search and review, and communication tools for both exam recording and teacher-student collaboration. VITEC’s Monisys MR and Proxsys platforms were used to support these needs.

VITEC implemented an IP-based, server-managed recording and media asset management solution with Monisys MR for multi-channel recording and Proxsys for centralized management and retrieval. The new setup used tablet-based control, IP cameras with H.264 streaming, and browser-based archive access, reducing installation and operating costs through single-cable PoE and simpler infrastructure. Compared with the earlier analog system, VITEC reduced the IT footprint from two full racks to just three servers occupying 5 RU, while improving workflow, picture quality, and usability.
