Exterity Ip Video Extends Fan Engagement at the Open

The Open, working with event AV specialist C3i Group, needed a robust way to deliver live golf coverage and security across a large, temporary tournament environment while fan expectations grew after Sky gained exclusive live TV rights. VITEC, through the Exterity IP video platform, was used to stream real-time content across hospitality villages, media areas, and adjoining hotels while protecting content distribution with HDCP encryption.

VITEC implemented a scalable IP video and digital signage solution built on the site’s fibre network, using AvediaStream encoders, AvediaServer management, and ArtioSign for sponsor messaging. The result was synchronized, low-latency playback under 300 ms across more than 600 screens, lossless delivery to a 36m LED wall in the media centre, and centralized control of all content, helping improve fan engagement, support broadcasters, and deliver health and safety messages efficiently.
