DVIDS, a 24/7 operation providing a connection between global media and military personnel, faced the challenge of delivering broadcast-quality video from areas with extremely limited bandwidth. To improve its ability to contribute high-quality video from anywhere, DVIDS selected a solution from VITEC powered by their MGW Ace Encoders and Decoders and Playout Server.

VITEC's solution utilized a high-performance HEVC GEN2+ codec and Zixi technology for transport protection, which drastically reduced the required bandwidth. This allowed DVIDS to lower its HD service bandwidth from 3Mbps to 1Mbps while maintaining video quality. The VITEC Playout Server also provided a streamlined interface for managing all incoming global feeds, simplifying operations and ensuring reliable delivery.
