Newport News Public Schools boosts workouts 61% with Vitality

Newport News Public Schools sought to better support employee wellbeing within the demanding context of school district roles. They partnered with the wellness vendor Vitality to address the challenge of fostering consistent, engaging health activities for their staff.

Vitality implemented personalized weekly physical activity targets through its Power of Vitality mobile app in September 2025. This gamified solution provided tailored goals and incentives. The results showed immediate and sustained engagement: the first month saw a 61% increase in total recorded workouts, and longer-term data comparing March 2025 to March 2026 showed a 19.8% increase in total workouts and a 19.3% increase in advanced-level workouts, demonstrating lasting behavior change.
