A Vitality Case Study
Mondelez International launched a global "Call for Well‑being" through its Foundation, pledging $50 million to scale community programs across 13 countries to improve nutrition, physical activity and access to fresh foods. The company needed to coordinate NGO partners, standardize measurement across diverse markets, and engage employees as volunteers. Vitality (the Vitality Institute) documented the initiative and featured it in its "Beyond the Four Walls" report and case study.
Vitality published Mondelēz International Foundation’s evaluation framework and implementation guidelines, promoting three core metrics (nutrition knowledge, physical activity, healthier eating) so NGO partners could collect consistent data. The documented outcomes include the Health for Life program reaching 25,000 UK students (nutrition knowledge in one cohort rising from 47% to 53%; school gardening participation up from 30% to 51%), and global volunteer efforts engaging 15,000 employees for 47,000 hours with 96% saying it makes Mondelez International a great place to work. By sharing these lessons, Vitality helped accelerate adoption of rigorous monitoring and best practices across partners.
