Lockton Company, the world’s largest privately held insurance broker with roughly 6,500 employees, was facing unsustainably high, double‑digit health cost trends despite early internal wellness efforts. In 2011 they partnered with Vitality to deploy a data‑driven, incentive‑based wellbeing program—using Vitality Status®, Vitality Active Rewards® + Apple Watch and the Vitality Mall®—to improve associate health and moderate rising medical costs.

Vitality implemented status‑based incentives, activity challenges and rewards tied to premium discounts and HSA contributions, plus social and leadership engagement strategies. The results were measurable: 23% more members reached Gold Vitality Status or above, a 5.1% net improvement in health risk factors for highly engaged members, 3.6x increases in workouts and average daily steps with Active Rewards + Apple Watch, 4x growth in employee activities (8x for spouses), and 94% of associates saying Vitality improves workplace culture. Vitality’s program helped embed wellness into Lockton Company’s culture while driving participation and health improvements.
