Carhartt, the American workwear and outdoor apparel company, has partnered with Vitality since 2013 to deliver a companywide wellbeing program across a geographically and functionally diverse workforce (supply chain, retail stores, and corporate). Their challenge was engaging a mix of non‑technical and frontline employees, onboarding a rising number of new hires, and keeping highly engaged members motivated once they hit participation ceilings—using the Vitality wellbeing program (including Employer Incentives and Active Rewards).

Vitality worked with Carhartt to empower local “Champs” to run culturally relevant activities, share best practices in monthly meetings, reward non‑app participation (printed wellness handouts), raise incentive requirements, add Active Rewards, and integrate partners like LinkedIn Learning and Lyra. The Vitality program helped lift new‑hire registration and engagement (registered peaked at 36% in 2021), doubled Gold/Platinum membership to 6% in 2022, produced a 16.3% better‑than‑expected improvement in actuarial risk groupings, and correlates Gold/Platinum members with 30% fewer health‑related absences and 27% lower turnover.
