Case Study: Baylor College of Medicine boosts employee engagement and member support with Vitality's Wellness Champs

Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), a leader in health sciences, needed to boost engagement and build an inclusive culture of health across a large, geographically dispersed workforce — including clinic staff outside the main Houston campus. To tackle this, BCM partnered with Vitality and implemented Vitality’s Wellness Champs initiative, a customized three-tier peer-champion model designed to encourage participation at different commitment levels.

Using Vitality’s Wellness Champs model, BCM recruited and supported about 100 Wellness Champs across job levels and locations to promote activities, connect employees with resources, and foster social connections in hybrid and virtual settings. The program made Champs a primary avenue for outreach, helped significantly improve health risk profiles across BCM’s population, and contributed to BCM receiving the C. Everett Koop Award in 2019.
