A Visual Lease Case Study

Preview of the Penn State Health Case Study

How a healthcare organization transformed their lease accounting efforts using best-in-class technology and an ERP integration

Penn State Health, a multi-hospital health system in Hershey, PA, needed a long-term lease accounting solution to meet ASC 842. The organization—managing roughly 200 real estate, equipment, and embedded leases—was replacing a homegrown interim system while implementing Lawson CloudSuite Financial ERP and, with guidance from Grant Thornton, selected Visual Lease to provide a best‑in‑class lease accounting and management platform.

Visual Lease migrated Penn State Health’s lease data, integrated with the ERP, and configured custom fields, role‑based security, and ad‑hoc reporting to centralize and automate lease accounting. The implementation was completed in 30 days (versus a 90‑day average), Penn State Health adopted ASC 842 in July 2019, and Visual Lease’s automated reporting saved about 180 hours per year (~10–15 hours per month), dramatically improving visibility and reducing manual reconciliation time.
