A Visual Lease Case Study
Waste Connections, Inc., a publicly traded waste-management company with more than 16,000 employees and 350+ real estate and equipment leases across 400+ operating districts, needed to meet ASC 842 lease accounting requirements and produce accurate 10‑K financials. Previously tracking leases in Excel, the company lacked the centralized, auditable system and resources required to automate lease journal entries and disclosures, so they selected Visual Lease’s lease accounting platform and professional abstraction services to drive compliance.
Visual Lease delivered a five‑stage implementation, ongoing abstraction services and role‑based, regionally mapped reporting that allowed Waste Connections, Inc. to go live in January 2019 and meet the ASC 842 deadline. The platform now supports ~75 users, automates journal entries and FASB disclosure reports, provides lease‑date alerts and secure user permissions, and—per Waste Connections—saved months of manual work, reduced overhead and increased confidence in monthly and annual lease accounting and 10‑K reporting.
