Valve Research Filters Captured VKS Data to Fuel Continuous Improvement

Valve Research & Manufacturing Company, a manufacturer of solenoid, relief, and check valves for aerospace and oceanographic applications, needed to move beyond a paper-based production system that made instructions hard to interpret, revisions difficult to track, and job travelers cumbersome to update. Working with Visual Knowledge Share Ltd (VKS), the company set out to digitize its assembly and quality workflows with visual work instructions and data capture.

Visual Knowledge Share Ltd implemented VKS Pro to replace paper travelers with electronic, photo- and video-enabled guidebooks that could be updated instantly across multiple work orders and departments. The result was faster change control, less time lost to manual logging, smoother cross-department workflow, and better capture of tribal knowledge for new operators; Valve Research also used VKS to support quality checks and process improvement data collection, with plans to further automate measurement capture in the future.
