Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), a major Taiwanese research institute, needed a more visual way to promote its flexible manufacturing systems and present its machine, robot, and controller design capabilities to potential customers. ITRI turned to Visual Components and its 3D simulation and visualization software to support this effort.

Visual Components implemented its design and development environment for ITRI, including an add-on module that connects directly to ITRI’s CNC and robot controllers. The implementation took about three months, and ITRI reported that the software was easy to adopt with training and online documentation. The solution helped ITRI better showcase its manufacturing offerings and also created a foundation for future cyber-physical manufacturing research, including a planned factory floor simulator connected to multiple machines and controllers.
