Bell Helicopter, a Texas-based manufacturer of vertical lift aircraft, needed a better way to develop and validate automation technology for rotorcraft manufacturing and inspection. The company evaluated several robot programming and simulation tools before turning to Visual Components, drawn by its ease of use, flexibility, and ability to import a wide range of model types.

Using Visual Components software, Bell Helicopter’s Advanced Quality Systems Applications Laboratory began modeling virtual manufacturing operations, simulating processes such as white light scanning and automated drilling, and rapidly creating robot programs with Python scripting. Visual Components helped Bell reduce the time needed to develop and implement automation solutions, while lowering risk and speeding time to market; five employees were trained initially, with more planned.
