ABC delivers 4 wireless Steadicam feeds with Vislink

The customer, ABC, faced the significant challenge of producing a flawless live broadcast of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve from Times Square. This high-pressure event required highly mobile Steadicam operators to deliver broadcast-grade images in extremely cold, crowded conditions with no margin for error, further complicated by the need to support a new augmented reality workflow.

Vislink implemented a solution using its HCAM wireless camera systems on four Steadicams, providing low-latency, reliable transmission that operated perfectly in the cold. The system successfully supported the new wireless AR deployment and used ViewBack units to enhance coordination. As a result, Vislink enabled an uninterrupted broadcast for ABC and a multi-network pool feed during the critical countdown to midnight, with operators praising the system's reliability under immense pressure.
