A Visix Case Study
Western Retail Services (WRS), the University of Western Ontario–owned business that runs the campus bookstore, computer store and graphic design unit, needed a more timely and cost-effective way to communicate with 34,000 students and 3,500 faculty and staff. Relying on printed signs was slow and expensive in a fast-changing campus environment, so WRS sought a digital alternative that would deliver fresh information and reduce ongoing print costs.
WRS implemented Visix’s AxisTV digital signage on four Sharp LCD screens placed in high-traffic locations (notably beside Tim Hortons), populating them with slides, video and bulletins and offering advertising space to vendors. With strong vendor uptake, positive vendor and campus response, and good vendor training/support, WRS recouped more than half its investment in under 12 months and now ranks AxisTV as a top communication channel with plans to expand its use.
