University of Dayton New Digital Signage Offers Improved Communication Outlet

The University of Dayton needed a more effective way to reach students after posters proved ineffective. Student Government pushed the idea, allocated $29,600, and administrators required a solution that would support campus branding, integrate with existing scheduling systems, and enable centralized emergency messaging.

UD selected Visix digital signage and installed widescreen, vertically rotated displays in Kennedy Union (with an SGA-funded unit in the dining hall). The system uses centrally managed channel players, automatic feeds and RSS tickers to publish event updates and weather in real time, improving event promotion, enabling one-message emergency alerts, increasing transparency for student government, and laying the groundwork for a campus-wide rollout.
