The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) in Danville, Virginia, is a university-led research and education hub created to revitalize a region hit hard by manufacturing losses, high unemployment and low educational attainment. Charged with building a knowledge-based economy and showcasing cutting‑edge technology to attract businesses and visitors, the Institute needed a modern, visible way to communicate events, schedules and institutional capabilities.

IALR implemented Visix AxisTV digital signage and MeetingMinder room signs — including a striking nine-screen atrium display and signs outside conference rooms and the executive auditorium — integrated with EMS scheduling and live weather feeds. The system improved visitor impressions and internal and external communications, cut printed materials, enabled shared programming with partner institutions over fiber, and has been enthusiastically adopted as a scalable tool to support the region’s economic redevelopment.
