Fort Sam Houston - Customer Case Study

Fort Sam Houston’s Army Medical Department Center & School (AMEDDC&S), the world’s largest military medical training facility, needed a faster, more reliable way to communicate with more than 25,000 annual students and staff. After 9/11 the command prioritized modern, visual communications that could deliver class locations, emergency alerts and timely announcements to a busy, dispersed audience.

AMEDDC&S implemented Visix AxisTV digital signage on six channel players feeding high-visibility displays, classroom screensavers and an automated events database; departments submit approved content ranging from class info and weather to emergency notices and welcome messages. The system proved user-friendly, boosted participation, reinforced other channels like the post newspaper, and — most importantly — saved significant time for students and staff while providing an effective emergency notification tool.
